We’re officially in a Game of Thrones dry spell. While you’re mourning the absence of your favorite series, consider diving into a new show that features a few of the same elements. Game of Thrones isn’t the only series on TV that showcases characters battling with the undead — and each other. Chances are, you’re already watching one or more of these shows, but you can always add another to your lineup!
Think of Reign as the PG-13 version of Game of Thrones. There’s a struggle for the crown, plenty of sexual intrigue, and just the slightest twist of magic and mystery. It may not be able to show quite as much skin or blood as HBO’s hit, but that might be a good thing for some viewers. Watch it on Netflix.
THE WALKING DEAD
Then again, if you love Game of Thrones because of the brutal violence, then The Walking Dead is exactly what you need in your life. The protagonists are fighting “walkers” rather than wights and White Walkers, but the creatures just as bloodthirsty. Again! Watch it on Netflix.
If you mainly watch Game of Thrones for all the sexy sex, then it’s really time that you check out Outlander. The series, based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series, is a steamy time-traveling masterpiece, and the leading man could give Game of Thrones’ hottest men a run for their money. Watch it on Amazon.
Black Sails is essentially Game of Thrones on the high seas. The show premiered on Starz back in 2014, and season four isn’t debuting until next year, meaning you have months to catch up on the first three seasons of the pirate drama. Available right in Amazon!
History Channel’s epic series about vikings has earned a dedicated fanbase over the course of its four seasons. The show has already been renewed for a fifth season, so the time you spend catching up on this addictive show will not be in vain. Watch it on Hulu.
