Abu Dhabi Airport’s New Terminal A to Start Operations from 1st November

Abu Dhabi International Airport is a world-class hub. It welcomed around 15.54 million passengers in 2022. With an increase in travel demand, the airport realized the need of a new terminal that will cater to the needs of airlines and passengers. Constructed keeping in mind the modern-day needs of travelers, the Abu Dhabi Airport’s new terminal A will start operations from 1st November. 

Etihad Airways is expected to operate an inaugural flight on 31st October before the new terminal A at Abu Dhabi Airport officially opens. It is said that airlines will shift their flight operations in three phases between November 1 and 14. 

No matter if you are traveling to Abu Dhabi or have a layover for your USA to India flight, you will be left in awe of the newly-constructed terminal A at Abu Dhabi Airport.  16 international airlines including Wizz Abu Dhabi will start operating flights from November 1 while Etihad Airways will start offering 16 flights every day from November 9. Along with Etihad, 11 other airlines including Air Abu Dhabi will shift to the new terminal A by November 14. After which, a total of 28 carriers will be operating from the brand new terminal.

The New Terminal A at Abu Dhabi International Airport  

The state-of-the-art terminal will end trial operations by October 17. 11,000+ volunteers have been involved in new terminal trials. Once it starts operations, it will likely double Abu Dhabi International Airport’s current capacity to 45 million passengers annually. It is one of the largest airport terminals in the world and will have nine main biometric touch points. These will include immigration e-gates, self-service baggage drop areas, and boarding gates. It will also use facial recognition technology in order to make security checks efficient. Also, the advanced baggage handling system here can process 19,200 bags in just an hour. Abu Dhabi Airport’s new terminal A will enhance passenger experience by streamlining services from entry to boarding the flight.

With around 163 retail and luxury brands stores such as YSL and Gucci, the brand new terminal A will offer passengers a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. It also boasts countless food and beverage stores so you can enjoy a delicious meal on the go. 

Sustainable Operations at the New Terminal A

Abu Dhabi Airport’s new terminal A has 7,500+ solar panels that give power to a three megawatt plant located here. This power plant currently saves up to 5,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. With the right resources, it is also said that this terminal can reduce the usage of water by nearly 45%.
