Akasa Air, a recent entrant in the Indian aviation sector, has reached a significant achievement. Since November 2022, its “Pets on Akasa” service has successfully carried more than 5,000 pets. This airline pet policy reflects the confidence pet owners have in the airline’s ability to care for their beloved animals.

Most Pets Flying Are Dogs and Cats

Among the 5,000 pets surveyed, 66% were identified as dogs, while 34% were categorized as cats. Bengaluru stands out as the leading city for pet travel, accounting for 31% of all journeys originating from this location. The most frequented routes include Bengaluru to Delhi and Mumbai to Delhi, establishing them as the most active paths for pet travel.

A flyer with Indian Eagle travel had flown his 4 year old pet from Bengaluru to Delhi this year. He dropped his pet with his parents before flying to the USA for further studies. Earlier he used to travel via train and the process was too time consuming but with ‘Pets on Akasa’, traveling with pets has become more convenient.

Traveling with pets is a seamless experience on Akasa Air as pet owners may get window seats, early boarding, and priority check-in without any additional charges. Furthermore, Akasa Air collaborates with the Umeed for Animals Foundation to ensure the safety and comfort of pets. The staff is specifically trained to manage pets with utmost care.
