American Airlines AAdvantage members will now have an enhanced airport experience with TSA PreCheck Touchless ID. The innovative program uses facial recognition technology to streamline identity verification at various security checkpoints. This eliminates the need for physical IDs or boarding passes.

How does Touchless ID program work for AAdvantage members?

Eligible AAdvantage members have the option to enroll in the Touchless ID program by updating their American Airlines profile with a valid passport and a Known Traveler Number (KTN).

Upon enrollment, travelers are able to utilize dedicated TSA PreCheck Touchless ID lanes at participating airports. In these lanes, a rapid facial scan confirms their identity, facilitating a quicker and more convenient security experience.

What are the eligibility requirements for TSA PreCheck Touchless ID program?

To participate, travelers must:

  • Be an active AAdvantage member.
  • Hold a valid TSA PreCheck membership.
  • Have a valid passport linked to their American Airlines profile.
  • Provide their Known Traveler Number (KTN).
  • Opt into the Touchless ID program via the American Airlines app or website.

It’s important to note that, while the program offers a touchless experience, travelers should still carry a physical ID as a backup.

Participating Airports

American Airlines has rolled out the Touchless ID program at several major airports, including:

  1. Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA)
  2. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  3. Miami International Airport (MIA)
  4. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
  5. Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL)
  6. New York-LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
  7. Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)

Is biometric data collected through this program secure?

The TSA ensures that all biometric data collected through the Touchless ID program is handled with strict privacy measures. Photos taken for identity verification are deleted after the process is complete and are not used for surveillance or shared with other entities.

The introduction of TSA PreCheck Touchless ID by American Airlines showcases a significant step toward more efficient and secure air travel. By embracing biometric technology, the airline aims to offer AAdvantage members with a seamless and expedited airport experience.
