Uttar Pradesh has immense potential for ecotourism and the state government is leaving no stone unturned to amplify the initiatives for the greater good of all stakeholders. The recent development has been the setting up of an ecotourism development board.

This and other ecotourism initiatives by UP Government will no doubt add more avenues for travel and offer more opportunities to all stakeholders. The board will consist of members from 10 departments. These are tourism, AYUSH, forest, urban development, transport, horticulture, rural development and irrigation, agriculture, and sport. The intention for setting up the board is to attract more domestic and international tourists to the state. The board will also take up the task to promote sites related to history and culture. In addition, all natural resources as well as religious sites will receive proper support and impetus as needed.

The UP Ecotourism Circuit

Currently, there are multiple destinations under the Uttar Pradesh ecotourism circuit. For instance, the circuits have been divided into western wildlife, Terai tiger, lion safari, Bundelkhand adventure, Wetland, eastern wildlife, Ganges basin etc. Tourists can book the tours online by visiting the website of Uttar Pradesh Ecotourism. For instance, you can book your visit to Dudhwa National Park via the website. It is part of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and comes under the Terai Tiger Circuit. The Ganges Basin Circuit consists of Kannauj, Bithoor, and Bulandsahar. Similarly, all circuits are further divided into various attractions and destinations.

In July this year; the state government launched an initiative to identify at least one ecotourism spot in 56 districts. These destinations are a mix of nature reserves, wetlands, dams, temples, lakes etc.

With such astute planning and development, ecotourism initiatives by UP Government will no doubt achieve its target to boost tourism, increase employment opportunities, and also take greater care of the natural resources and destinations in the state.

You can take flights to India and visit these ecotourism sites in Uttar Pradesh on your various trips.
