Jammu & Kashmir Religious Tourism

The administration of Jammu and Kashmir has designated an additional 75 tourist destinations to enhance religious tourism in the area. This decision follows a remarkable influx of tourists, numbering over one crore, in 2022. The region’s accomplishments extend beyond the surge in visitor numbers. The government’s initiatives to promote lesser-known locations have yielded significant outcomes.

Furthermore, 75 sites have been singled out to facilitate spiritual encounters and to enrich Jammu and Kashmir religious tourism. These ongoing endeavors focus on presenting the region’s natural beauty and cultural opulence. The region has been actively participating in International Trade Marts to engage with global tourists, and a policy that supports local artisans is in the works, intending to benefit the artisan community.

Global Engagements

A team from the Tourism Department is currently in Ahmedabad for a promotional trip that has already generated substantial interest. Similar successful campaigns have been previously conducted in Cochin and Chennai.

With these multifaceted strategies coming together to strengthen the tourism sector, the anticipation of achieving unprecedented tourist figures for the year seems very achievable.
