Japan Airlines is making continuous progress with its A350-1000 fleet expansion. The delivery of the 10th aircraft stands out as a major step in its long-distance upgrade plan. JA10WJ joined the fleet on July 17, 2025. This marks the halfway point in JAL’s widebody replacement plan, with the focus on better efficiency, comfort, and global reach.

JAL Expands A350-1000 Service on Key International Routes

JAL is flying the A350-1000 on select international routes where demand is high. The airline has ordered 13, with the full rollout expected by 2028 as older aircraft are retired.Since December 2023, the A350-1000 has helped JAL make long-haul flights more efficient, quieter, and more comfortable for passengers.

Current A350-1000 Routes from Tokyo Haneda

Rather than spread thin, the A350-1000 is concentrated. It now flies five select routes from Tokyo Haneda (HND), each one a vital transpacific or transatlantic link in Japan Airlines’ long-haul lineup.

United States

New York (JFK) – Twice daily

  • JL6 departs HND at 11:05 AM
  • JL4 departs HND at 6:30 PM
  • Returns are handled by JL5 and JL3, landing back in Tokyo the next day

Los Angeles (LAX) – Daily

  • JL16 takes off from HND at 5:00 PM
  • JL15 handles the return, arriving in Tokyo in the evening

Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) – Daily

  • JL12 departs Tokyo mid-morning
  • JL11 brings travelers back across the Pacific the following afternoon

United Kingdom

London Heathrow (LHR) – Daily

  • JL43 leaves HND at 9:50 AM
  • JL44 returns from LHR at 6:30 PM, landing in Tokyo the next evening

France

  • JL45 departs HND mid-morning
  • JL46 returns from Paris in the evening

Bigger Picture Behind JAL’s A350-1000 Strategy

This isn’t just a network decision. It is a statement about the experience Japan Airlines aims to offer. The A350-1000 arrives with a high-end cabin configuration built for serious competition in premium markets. It is also quieter, cleaner, and more efficient, which supports JAL’s environmental goals on every front. The pace so far? Impressive. Ten aircraft were delivered in less than 19 months. But things will ease up now. Just one more is scheduled before March 2026, with final arrivals stretching into 2028.

JAL Prioritizes Key Markets with A350-1000

This isn’t a broad rollout. It is a precise deployment. Japan Airlines is placing its newest aircraft where consistency, comfort, and capacity matter most. With just five key destinations in focus, every flight reflects the airline’s upgraded intent. The A350-1000 represents more than modern engineering. It is Japan Airlines’ long-haul signature, and with JA10WJ now in service, that next chapter has already begun.
