Duggardhani, a unique village haat nestled in the heart of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir, has recently captured the attention of travelers. The place has gained significant popularity among tourists for various compelling reasons. Let’s delve into the factors that have turned Duggardhani into one of the most sought-after Kashmir tourist places. So, the next time you travel on flights to India, you can visit this scenic place.

One of the key draws of this place is the delectable local cuisine served by skilled local women. Employing around 1500 local women, the Duggardhani village haat has become a culinary haven. Visitors can enjoy a variety of mouthwatering Dogra delicacies, such as makki ki roti, kheer, Dogra dal, and refreshing lassi.

However, Duggardhani isn’t just limited to its culinary delights. The village has also become a bustling hub for shoppers. Tourists can discover traditional handicrafts, horticultural products, pickles, papads, and chutneys, along with other tempting items.

The initiative taken by the Reasi administration in Jammu and Kashmir is an attempt to address the pressing need for female employment in the region. By transforming the traditional culinary skills of women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) into a lucrative career option, this program aims to empower and uplift the community.

Launched on May 16, 2023, the initiative is a collaboration between the Reasi administration, J&K Tourism Department, and J&K Rural Livelihood Mission.
