Kerala Tourism, in an effort to attract female solo travelers, has announced the launch of a specialized mobile application designed to cater to the unique needs of women traveling alone or in groups. This innovative app will provide women-friendly tourism packages, as well as connect users with female tourist operators and guides. With the introduction of this app for solo female travelers, women visiting Kerala can enjoy a convenient, comfortable, and safe travel experience.

Location-Specific Information

The government has entrusted the State Responsible Tourism Mission (RT Mission), the primary implementing agency for the ‘Women-Friendly Tourism’ project, with the task of creating relevant content for this app for solo female travelers. This content will include location-specific information and accurate imagery of various destinations.

Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas desires a safe environment for women tourists in Kerala. He recognizes the trend of women traveling solo or in groups. The women-friendly app improves their experience by providing convenience. Launched in October 2022, inspired by UN Women’s concept. The tourism department plans to introduce diverse women-friendly products and packages.

The tourism department aims to engage 150,000 women from Kerala in the project. They have the support of organizations like UN Women. The goal is to establish 10,000 women-led ventures and create 30,000 job opportunities in tourism.

Summing Up

The upcoming mobile app will be a comprehensive guide, including details on women-friendly accommodations, businesses, and attractions. Also, it will highlight women-led handicrafts and souvenirs, promoting a diverse and inclusive travel experience.

Furthermore, the app for solo female travelers shows Kerala’s commitment to empower women travelers. It creates a welcoming and inclusive tourism environment, encouraging confident exploration of the state.
