Lachung in Sikkim Reopens for Tourists After a Brief Closure

After being closed for tourists due to flash floods in early October, the enchanting tourist destination of Lachung in Sikkim is set to welcome visitors once again. The resilient efforts in road restoration have triumphed, making the picturesque spot accessible from December 1 via an alternative route through Dzongu-Shipgyer.

The Alternative Route to Lachung in Sikkim

The successful completion of road restoration made way for the reopening of Lachung. The alternative route, albeit adding 16-17 km to the journey, ensures a scenic path via Dzongu-Shipgyer, offering a unique travel experience for all visitors.

Lachen-Gurudongmar Point Still Under Restoration

While Lachung in Sikkim reopens its doors, the nearby Lachen-Gurudongmar point remains closed for the time being. Restoration works are actively underway in the aftermath of the flash floods, and until further notice, access to this point will be restricted. The decision prioritizes safety and thorough restoration in the affected regions. The decision to reopen Lachung comes almost two months after the region faced severe devastation from the flash floods.
