Major Airlines Plans to Increase International Flights from Bengaluru

Bengaluru is likely to become an important international aviation center. Major airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, plan to start operating new international flights from Bengaluru within the next 12 to 18 months.

IndiGo expanded its international flights from Bengaluru by an incredible 57% in the previous year, making it the city’s leading international carrier.

Airlines International Destinations 

Air India plans to make Bengaluru a hub for long-haul direct flights. This strategic effort promises to expand India’s connectivity and business opportunities with other destinations. The airline has announced a partnership with SIA Engineering Company Limited to expand its Base Maintenance facilities in Bengaluru. This move not only strengthens its operational capabilities but also marks a big step toward enhancing India’s aviation infrastructure.

IndiGo now has the most seats available for international travel coming from Bengaluru. The airline’s expansion aims are set with an overview of reducing fleet-related challenges, indicating that it will expand rapidly in future years.

Increased Passenger Traffic

In fiscal year 2023-24, international passenger traffic increased by 23.5%, reaching 4.67 million travelers. Destinations like Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok remain popular, showing Bengaluru’s importance in international aviation.

Qantas, an Australian airline, plans to boost service frequency between Sydney and Bengaluru, adding to the competitive scene. Starting mid-December, the airline will operate daily service until March, adding nearly 12,000 seats on this route.

Bengaluru’s airport sets for a significant increase in international flights travel. With massive investments and smart connections, the city will likely have a larger role in connecting India to the rest of the world. In the coming years, Bengaluru will surely be at the top of international travel and business, making it a major hub in the global travel network.

IndiGo and other airlines plan on adding new international flights from Bengaluru improving not only global connectivity but also enhancing passenger experiences. The addition ensures a smooth and comfortable vacation.
