Goa Tourism Department has released new Goa travel guidelines considering the safety of the visitors. While the government is taking care of all aspects related to travelers’ protection, it’s recommended that tourists also take precautions. This step has been taken after a tragic incident happened at Keri Beach. New travel guidelines for Goa ensure the welfare of the vacationers and promote responsible tourism.

According to the reports, every individual, company, and organization has to obey the newly released guidelines, if fail, they will be subjected to a fine of INR 5,000/- to 50,000/-. They may have to face legal action against them under section-188 of the Indian Penal Code.

What are the new Goa guidelines? Let’s take a look.

Goa Travel Guidelines Related to Stay in the State

According to the latest Goa Travel Guidelines, tourists are required to book and stay in legal hotels or accommodation facilities. These places should be registered with the Tourism Department.

Hiring Vehicles in Goa

Many visitors rent out a vehicle to enjoy the beauty of the state. Though it’s no ban on hiring a vehicle in the state, tourists are advised to be cautious about it. If you want to visit the state on a hired vehicle like a bike or a cab, just make sure that it has a valid permit. The organization that provides vehicles on rent should be legally registered with the Transport Department. Driving 2-wheelers on beaches is not allowed.

Help in Protecting Heritage Sites

Not only in Goa, but this rule is also applicable in the entire country. If you are traveling to India, you should show some respect to its heritage and travel responsibly. Don’t damage or destroy the beauty of the heritage sites while visiting and help the country to save its legacy.

Consumption of Alcohol

Goa is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and alcohol. However, there are strict rules and regulations regarding the consumption of alcohol in public. If you are found drinking alcohol in any of the public places, you will be penalized. Alcohol consumption is a punishable offense in Goa and is legally prohibited. You can drink responsibly in hotels, shacks, and restaurants that possess legal licenses.

Escape Any Illegal Agent

If you want to enjoy water activities and sports, make sure it’s not via any illegal agent or touts. When you book a service, just check whether they have the registration certificate issued by the Tourism Department or not.

Other Important Points

Begging, cooking in an open area, and littering waste in tourist areas are prohibited. Taking pictures without the permission of another tourist or stranger is considered to be an offense. Respect the privacy of other tourists.
