This year, New York City expects to receive 65 million tourists. From that number, about 380,000 will come from India. As of this year, many Indians are applying for visas to visit the United States. New York City tourism is likely to increase as most of them will arrive through New York City, which is where more than 60% of Indian visitors to the US first go.

New York City has the world’s busiest airport system and is the most popular port of entry for international tourists to the United States. Last year, it attracted 61.8 million visitors. This was about the same number as before the epidemic in 2019. The city hopes for 64.5 million tourists this year.

New York City Tourism Boom

In 2023, about 336,000 travelers from India booked international flights and visited New York City. This figure reflected the number of visits from India before the pandemic. This year, an estimated 383,000 people are expected to travel.

Last year, tourists to New York City remained for an average of 11 days, up from around 10 days before the pandemic. Indian visitors to New York City usually come for entertainment. They often travel by themselves and stay at hotels. They frequently schedule flights in March, April, or May.

New York Services for Indian Tourists

New York City values tourists from India. The city’s tourism board strives effectively to make Indian visitors feel welcome and have a good experience. The New York City Tourism + Conventions, which helps promote the city, recently finished a tour in India. They visited Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. They also started an online training program for travel agents that includes lessons in Hindi.

During this tour, the New York team met with important travel people and agents in three key Indian cities. This was the first time they visited Ahmedabad since the pandemic. They talked about what New York City has to offer to Indian travelers.
