Out of the many initiatives the state government has made to boost Gujarat Tourism, Rann Utsav is the most popular and lively one. A festival spanning more than 3 months, it has music, dance, food and a lot more. Visiting the state during the Rann Utsav is a great way to get a peek into the distinct culture of this region.

Imagine staying in a tent and admiring the sky on a full moon night while watching glimmering lights that enhance the beauty of the pristine white salt desert. An experience that is on the bucket list of nearly every traveler.

This desert festival attracts thousands of tourists every year both from India and across the world. Be it the camel safari or live-in tents, there are countless activities that offer the visitors a one-of-a-kind experience. So, if you are in the country or are heading to India via international flights, you must consider being part of this splendid festival.

Rann Utsav 2022

Visiting the Rann Utsav is one of the best things to do in India during winters. The carnival of culture and food has already started this year and will continue delighting its visitors until February 2023. Gujarat Tourism also offers an array of packages that include food, accommodation, fun activities and sightseeing tours. You can opt for adventure sports activities such as rock climbing, paramotoring, paintball, zipline, bungee jumping, archery, bull ride etc. Also, you can check out the various handicrafts that are specially crafted by local artisans. As you explore what the vibrant Rann Utsav has to offer, relish on traditional delicacies, admire the folk dances, and mingle with the locals to get a glimpse of Kutch’s unique culture

Footfall Expected to Increase after a Covid Lull in the Past Two Years

There was a decline in the number of tourists visiting the region to experience the Rann Utsav during the pandemic. But the footfall will likely increase with travel going back to normalcy. There have already been more than 8000 bookings for the tent city and the number is expected to grow with time. Accommodation in the tent city now has five categories, Rajwadi tents, super-premium tents, premium tents, deluxe tents, and non-AC tents. Tourists can choose any based on their preference and budget.

If you are planning to be part of the Rann Utsav, you can book a flight to Ahmedabad and reach Dhordo. It is a small village located nearly 407 kms away from Ahmedabad and is well-connected via both rail and road.
