Thiruvananthapuram Airport launched its summer schedule this week, a significant move that signals a new era for the aviation industry in India. The summer schedule marks a notable 17% increase in weekly flight operations over the winter schedule. This enhancement will occur between March 31 and October 24, 2024. It shows the airport’s dedication to enhancing air transport connectivity and establishes it as a key node in India’s aviation network.

The summer roster boasts 716 weekly Air Traffic Movements (ATMs). This significantly increased from the 612 registered in the winter schedule. To meet the growing demand for air travel, this planned expansion will ensure that the airport stays at the forefront of connecting people and destinations.

Global Connectivity and Record-Breaking Traffic

Adding new destinations from the Thiruvananthapuram Airport in its summer schedule is a highlight. It includes more flights to major domestic destinations including Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad. Hanimaadhoo in the Maldives is an international destination with new flights.

There is more to this Thiruvananthapuram Airport update. International flights are now available, with additional destinations including Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Kuwait, and Kuala Lumpur. It is anticipated that this initiative will greatly increase the airport’s visibility globally. It will also meet the travel requirements of people arriving to explore the various places to visit in Thiruvananthapuram.

Air travel is increasing, although there are fewer new places added than before. Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) in the international sector are expected to rise by 21% during the summer, from 268 to 324 weekly flights. With a forecast 14% increase in ATMs, the domestic sector is not far behind, with weekly numbers rising from 344 to 392. As a result of the growing demand from passengers, the number of daily flights to Bengaluru will increase to 10.

The Thiruvananthapuram Airport achieved its highest passenger volume post-Covid in December 2023. It witnessed over 400,000 passengers, adding another achievement to its list of accomplishments. With 242,000 domestic passengers and 172,000 international passengers, it shows the airport’s significant role in promoting domestic and global travel.
