Travellers Nest in Meghalaya Launched to Boost Tourism

In the picturesque landscapes of Northeast India, a new haven awaits travelers seeking solace amidst nature’s embrace. The Travellers Nest in Meghalaya is a testament to the state’s commitment to community-driven progress. It consists of five charming cottages and a restaurant, poised just 28 kilometers to the south of Shillong – Meghalaya’s heart.

Travellers Nest at Kyiem Village

It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya who emphasized the power of community engagement in shaping the state’s economic journey. It is located in the tranquil Kyiem village in Mawphlang, nestled near the revered sacred forests of the Khasis. During the inauguration, he talked about the need for united efforts, emphasizing that isolation is not the path to progress. 

The Travellers Nest in Meghalaya is a physical embodiment of this vision, beckons travelers with its prefab allure. The five cozy cottages and a welcoming restaurant stand as symbols of Meghalaya’s commitment to showcasing its strengths. This haven, situated on the outskirts of the bustling capital, offers a glimpse into Meghalaya’s potential as a tourism hotspot.

Chief Minister Sangma acknowledged the vital role that tourism plays in the state’s development. “Tourism is a key sector for us,” he affirmed, revealing the ambitious goal of generating nearly one lakh job opportunities within the industry. With dedication, the Chief Minister’s Elevate program extends generous subsidies for ventures initiated by diverse entrepreneurs and entities, fueling the state’s economic engine.

Sangma’s speech was laced with the importance of connectivity – the lifeline of progress. He proudly spoke of ongoing road improvements. Highlighted the significance of the road from Mawphlang to Weiloi as a testament to the government’s commitment for better infrastructure. With each word, Chief Minister Sangma painted a vivid picture of a promising future, shaped by unity, determination, and community collaboration.
