Fact-Check: UAE Clears Air on Lifetime Golden Visa for Indians

The UAE is setting the record straight after some news started doing the rounds about Indians and Bangladeshis getting a lifetime Golden Visa by paying Rs 23 lakh. The country’s top immigration authority, the ICP, has called the reports completely false and advised people not to trust or share such claims.

UAE Responds to Viral Golden Visa Rumors

This week saw a surge in online chatter and news reports suggesting that Indians and Bangladeshis could secure a lifetime UAE Golden Visa by paying a one-time fee. The number doing the rounds was ₹23.30 lakh, and the story gained traction quickly. To make it sound even more convincing, some posts claimed that the process involved relaxed nomination norms and that agents could help applicants get through with ease.

But the ICP responded with a strong public denial. In a statement shared by Emirates News Agency (WAM) and verified through the ICP’s official social media handles, the authority clarified that no such scheme exists and that no nationality has been granted a ‘lifetime’ Golden Visa status.

ICP Warns Against Unauthorized Golden Visa Agents

The ICP stressed that all Golden Visa applications must go exclusively through government-authorized platforms, such as their official website (www.icp.gov.ae) or smart app. Neither internal departments nor external consultancies are allowed to process or approve applications. Any claim suggesting otherwise is “misleading and illegal.”

The statement emphasized: “There is no authorised internal or external entity involved in Golden Visa processing. All applications must be submitted through official government portals.”

UAE to Act Against Fake Golden Visa Promises

The ICP warned that legal steps will be taken against any individual or entity spreading false information or attempting to extract money through fraudulent visa offers. This comes in the wake of reports that overseas consultancy firms were charging exorbitant fees, with some demanding up to AED 40,000 (₹9 lakh), for falsely promising easier or faster access to Golden Visas.

Visa experts and registered centres in Dubai, such as Amer, Tasheel, and Tawjeeh, have also urged the public to avoid unofficial agents and so-called “visa influencers.” They pointed out that real Golden Visa application fees are closer to AED 3,000 (₹67,000), not including medical checks and Emirates ID fees.

“Many people are being misled by flashy claims online. The real process is strict and carefully monitored,” said Masiuddin Mohammed, a representative from Dubai’s Quality Government Service Centre.

Who’s Eligible for a Golden Visa

Despite the misinformation, the Golden Visa is very real—but far from “lifetime” or one-size-fits-all. According to the UAE’s regulations, eligibility includes:

  • Skilled professionals earning AED 30,000/month (approx. ₹6.7 lakh)
  • Investors holding AED 2 million (approx. ₹4.5 crore) in fixed deposits
  • Property holders with assets exceeding AED 2 million
  • Experts in science, IT, and individuals known for rare talents
  • Outstanding students and humanitarian contributors

In Dubai, applicants can start the nomination process from outside the country but must enter the UAE within three days of approval to complete formalities. In other Emirates, presence in the UAE is required from the beginning of the application process.
