Air India has introduced an expansive in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for long-haul flights. This move aims to offer an elevated passenger experience. The carrier’s widebody fleet, currently undergoing a $400 million retrofit, will likely showcase this new IFE system. The new Air India inflight entertainment system features over 2,200 hours of diverse content.

The comprehensive suite of content encompasses 1,000 hours of movies, 600 hours of TV shows, and 600 hours of audio. This cutting-edge IFE system will be installed in Air India’s A350, newly delivered B777-200LR, and incoming widebody aircraft with a focus on creating a captivating experience.

Air India Fleet Refurbishment Plans

As part of a $400 million retrofit effort, Air India’s heritage widebody aircraft is slated to undergo a comprehensive interior refurbishment beginning in the second half of 2024. A key element of this renovation is the installation of the new IFE system for international flights, which is consistent with the airline’s mission to improve the traveler experience.

A Delight for Movie Buffs

More than 250 Indian films covering many decades and genres are available to watch for passengers. These range from timeless favorites like “Sholay” and “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” to more recent hits like “Kantara” and “Drishyam 2.” 76 regional films in eight different languages are also a part of the content repository, demonstrating the diversity of Indian cinema.

Renowned worldwide film selections from 14 different languages are available on the new Air India inflight entertainment system. With nearly 200 Hollywood films in its library, including recent blockbusters and award-winning titles, the airline accommodates a wide range of preferences and lets customers experience a vast selection of motion picture treasures.

TV Shows, Podcasts, and Other Digital Content

There are an astounding 900+ episodes of Western, Indian, and worldwide TV series and digital content available in the in-flight library. Travelers can choose from a wide variety of entertainment options on Air India’s IFE system, which offers content from popular streaming services.

The Air India Radio

Air India Radio offers a distinctive touch to the in-flight entertainment experience with its 800+ genre-spanning song selection, podcasts, and carefully crafted playlists. The collection represents numerous musical genres, ensuring a unique and entertaining audio experience.

Other Upgrades for Air India Inflight Entertainment

With over 55 hours of carefully chosen entertainment divided into categories for Pre-School, Kids, and Teens, and featuring well-known titles like “CoComelon,” “Blippi,” and “Baby Shark,” Air India’s A350 fleet debuts an entertaining Kids Zone. The airline introduces Arc, an immersive in-flight mapping experience that provides interactive global geography exploration and real-time flight data.

With a big 21-inch HD touchscreen in Business class and 13.3-inch and 12-inch HD touchscreens in Premium Economy and Economy, respectively, the sophisticated touch screens offer a full-HD 1080p experience. Passengers traveling in Business and Premium Economy are given lightweight active noise-canceling headphones, while those traveling in Economy are given reusable red earbuds that are wrapped in environmentally friendly pouches.

Air India is releasing its new global corporate identity across a number of touchpoints, including a redesigned website, mobile app, and new uniforms created by Manish Malhotra, as part of its larger makeover. The airline’s recent introduction of the Airbus A350 is indicative of its dedication to fleet modernization.
