To the question, ‘what is the best way to experience Ladakh’, the most common answer from travelers is a biking trip across this Union Territory. While biking enthusiasts would be elated, what if you are not inclined towards a road trip? Well, you can still explore most of its hidden wonders, all thanks to the newly-introduced helicopter services in Ladakh for travelers.

The administration inaugurated the service with two choppers – a five-seater B-3 chopper and a bigger Mi-172. The first batch of travelers already took a helicopter ride in Leh on Tuesday.

What places is this helicopter service available to?

As of now, travelers can take the helicopter service in Ladakh to travel to the following places:

  • Leh
  • Drass
  • Kargil
  • Padum
  • Lingshed
  • Dibling
  • Neyrak
  • Zanskar

  • Turtuk
  • Srinagar
  • Jammu

Where can you book a helicopter ride?

Travelers opting for this helicopter service in Ladakh can book the tickets online by visiting https://heliservice.ladakh.gov.in/. Reportedly, the portal has a separate booking mechanism for non-residents.

However, it must be noted that the availability of Ladakh heliservice is subject to several factors like the number of passengers, weather conditions, and other operational restrictions.

Things to Know When Opting for Helicopter Service:

  • You need to present a valid photo ID proof at the time of boarding.
  • Transportation, meals and accommodation are not provided in case of flight cancellation.
  • You are expected to arrive at the boarding point an hour before the scheduled time of departure.
  • You are allowed to carry luggage weighing no more than 5 kgs.

July is one of the best months to visit Ladakh; the land of high passes, rugged mountains, snow-clad peaks, gorgeous valleys, placid lakes, alpine meadows, and other beautiful attractions. It is one of the most beautiful tourist places in India.
