Noida International Airport Ltd also known as Jewar International Airport in Gautam Buddha, Uttar Pradesh is set to be operational in 2024. The airport will be developed into a major travel hub handling 5 million passengers initially, including domestic and international passengers. Once the airport is fully functional, it will become the biggest airport in the country.

The good aspect regarding Noida Airport is that it will not be developed only for managing aircraft, the airport, and the surrounding area will be established into an aero city. The airport will offer world-class amenities including shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, bars, and other facilities to make the flyers’ experience luxurious.

In addition to the passengers’ convenience, the Jewar Airport will also be well-connected with Noida, Ghaziabad, and New Delhi via metro and road.

To make the airport look lavish and provide all the necessary facilities, the second phase of land acquisition has already begun. Around 158 hectares of land is likely to be acquired by the airport soon. Currently, this forest reserve area at Karauli Kadar village is obtained by the forest department. This area is a designated land where the forest ecosystem is preserved. Thus, acquiring forest area for commercial purposes needs several approvals resulting to be a long process. It is said that the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will provide another land to the forest department to maintain the ecosystem’s balance.

Also, YEIDA is planning to allocate 100 acres of land to Lincoln University excluding the 158 hectares of land to be provided to the airport. The new campus is set to be established 6 km near the Noida airport. The university officials have already submitted the proposal on April 06 to the state government. Once the university receives approval, the work on the new campus will start in fast-track mode.

The airport development work will be done at a fast pace. The first phase has already started. However, it is said that by the end of phase 4, Jewar International Airport is expected to handle major traffic in Northern India.
