Navy Pier, Chicago’s iconic lakefront attraction, has thrown open the doors to all of its outdoor entertainment options and nearly all indoor facilities on the occasion of the Memorial Day weekend, just as it planned to do during its phased reopening.

Navy Pier kicked off its phase-wise reopening on April 30 after a shutdown that lasted for eight months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Initially, the officials started with reopening some of its outdoor spaces and select attractions. Restaurants were also permitted to operate at a limited capacity in April.

Now after a month, Navy Pier is fully open with all public health safety measures in place! The Pier is welcoming back visitors to indulge in its much-loved attractions such as the Centennial Wheel, Wave Swinger, and Carousel among others, which they have been missing for months. Along with retail stores, restaurants, tour boats, and cruises, all carnival rides are now operational. However, the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater will remain closed, as per the reports. Special events, programs, and fireworks are also back! Memorial Day weekend specials included firework shows and live music, dance, and DJ performances.

It is also learned that the officials are sternly implementing all COVID-safety protocols and sanitizing Pier-wide attractions after each use, besides encouraging guests to adhere to the protocols. Wearing face masks and keeping a distance of 6 feet (from individuals who aren’t part of their group) are a must. To encourage hand hygiene among visitors, more than 90 hand sanitizer dispensers are made available for use throughout Navy Pier.

As a top tourist spot in Chicago, Navy Pier that stretches into Lake Michigan draws nearly two million visitors every year, both holidaymakers from within the country as well as foreign tourists who book flights to USA for a vacation. The sprawling 50-acre Navy Pier is filled with parks, promenades, gardens, restaurants, and countless family-friendly attractions. From thrilling rides to cruises, art exhibitions and museums to movies and theatres, shopping to dining opportunities, Navy Pier has it all!
