Indira Gandhi International Airport is set to unveil India’s largest mall by 2027, with a stunning 2.8 million sq ft. This plan is part of the $2.5 billion Worldmark Aerocity development project, which aims to develop India’s first aerotropolis, a city centered on an airport. The development of India’s biggest mall at Delhi airport is expected to witness multiple times growth in the next five years.

Aerocity now has 1.5 million sq ft of leasable space, with plans to expand to more than 10 million sq ft in two phases by 2029. The global business district will expand, adding 6.5 million sq ft, resulting in a total leasable area of 18 million sq ft. The expansion will include offices, retail outlets, food courts, and public spaces.

India’s Largest Mall Development at Delhi’s Aerocity

Bharti Realty manages the project’s development in connection with the GMR-backed Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL). The planned development, which includes phases 2 and 3, will be funded using a combination of debt and equity. Phase 2 will consist of Worldmarks 4, 5, 6, and 7, comprising 3.5 million sq ft of leasable area. This phase will include the much-anticipated mall, which is set to be three times the size of the existing malls in Vasant Kunj and will be completed in March 2027.

Those planning a trip to India, especially through Delhi, can explore the expanded Aerocity, a new hotspot for shopping and leisure. Consider booking cheap flight tickets with Indian Eagle to visit this upcoming architectural marvel and shopping destination.

The development would serve not only to shoppers but also to business people. Phase 1 attracted big corporate entities like Airbus and KPMG, and the next stages will likely bring many more business travelers. Also, the region will have a significantly expanded underground parking facility that can accommodate over 8,000 cars.

Plans to Develop More Facilities

Aerocity has over 5,000 hotel rooms spread among 11 hotels, including luxury brands like JW Marriott and Accor Group. After the expansion, the hotel room count will increase to 7,000 over 16 hotels, including new prominent brands such as St. Regis and JW Marriott Marquis.

It is set to become a major transportation hub with the construction of India’s first interstate multi-modal transport hub near the Aerocity metro station. This will connect transportation systems, including Delhi Metro’s upcoming Phase 4 line and the Rapid Rail Transit System, improving connectivity for travelers.

Once the construction of the Aerocity is completed, it is expected to accommodate 2 million professionals and attract around 30 million tourists each year. This amazing influx of travelers will expand IGI Airport’s capacity, which could increase the yearly passenger count to more than 100 million and replace the existing T2 terminal with a new, larger T4.

This upcoming India’s biggest mall at Delhi Airport Aerocity not only promises to change the shopping and business landscapes in the city but also greatly increases the area’s popularity as a top destination for both international and domestic tourists. If you are planning to visit India from the USA, book cheap flights to India. So that you can have an amazing and affordable vacation experience.
