In a bid to promote domestic tourism, the Philippines launched a new program named ‘Motourismo’ – a motorcycle tourism caravan initiative to encourage local travelers to discover the beauty of the Philippines’ untapped destinations, which are accessible via road. The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) of the Philippines collaborated with the Department of Tourism (DOT), RidePH, numerous motorcycle rider clubs and associations in the country to bring forth Motourismo.
Philippines’ Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said that they have come up with this campaign to ‘restore the confidence of the public to travel domestically and help the tourism industry bounce back from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis’.
Motorcyclists will be enlisted as ‘domestic tourism ambassadors’ to promote safe travel amid the pandemic. While these motorcycle tours take travelers to various little-known destinations around the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions, they will also highlight the culture and heritage sites, shops, restaurants, and other tourism products all over the country.

Motourismo underscores motorcycle tours as a secure and viable transportation option to go exploring the Philippines’ tourist attractions where the COVID-19 health and safety protocols are at a minimum. Besides serving as a platform to propagate the health and safety protocols when traveling out, Motourismo is also seen as opportunities galore for those in the tourism sector — it encourages laid-off workers to set up small businesses as well as tour operators to start new tour packages for domestic and international tourists. Are you a motorcycle enthusiast? Join fellow motorcyclists and embark on a safe and fun travel experience in the Philippines!
