The four-tiered waterfall rushes down the mountain face covered in lush greenery, and the gushing water as white as milk makes you momentarily believe that it is milk flowing all the way from a height of 310 m. It is, indeed, a spectacular sight to behold! The falls are located on the Goa-Karnataka border within Mollem National Park. Monsoon is the ideal time to see Dudhsagar in full glory. This 12th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is said to be the oldest temple in the state. Situated at Tambdi Surla near Mollem, Sri Mahadeva temple is a must-see offbeat place in Goa. It is a beautifully carved temple built with basalt rocks brought over from the Deccan plateau. The temple is also considered the only surviving basalt temple representing the Kadamba-Yadava style of architecture in Goa. Finely carved sculptures adorn the temple’s pillars, walls, and ceiling, and the Shivlinga rests on a pedestal in its sanctum sanctorum. Legend has it that a huge king cobra is settled in this dimly-lit inner sanctum.
