Telangana Formation Day: The Youngest State of India Turns 8 Today

Telangana is the youngest state of our country and turns 8 today; i.e. 2nd June. It was bifurcated from Andhra Pradesh after decades of protests and agitation in 2014.

The Ministry of Culture organized celebrations in New Delhi on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. Amit Shah, Union Minister of India, was the chief guest of this event. Meenakshi Lekhi, the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture along with G Kishan Reddy, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region of India were also in attendance. Dr Ambedkar International Centre was the venue for this vibrant program.

Through this program; the heritage, culture, architectural magnificence and the sacrifices made by the unsung heroes of this land were highlighted. Various talented singers from the state such as Vedala Hemachandra and Mangali performed for the attendees.

CM KCR Greets the Citizens of the State on Telangana Formation Day

On the eve of the Telangana Formation Day, the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao extended his heartiest greetings to his people. He said that the formation of the state was a result of the sacrifices the people made. He also said that “Telangana continued to progress and stood as a role model for the country.”

During his motivating speech, he also highlighted how Telangana has registered exceptional growth in an array of sectors such as education, health, irrigation, power, agriculture etc. He also added that the state has achieved qualitative growth to ensure the development and welfare of its citizens. This was possible because of the implementation of various schemes in the past 8 years.

Hyderabad Decked Up for Telangana Formation Day

Meanwhile, the capital city of Hyderabad is decked up in pink to mark the 8th birthday of the state. On the eve of the formation day, the Telangana Assembly was lit up and the surrounding areas were decorated with pink flags and banners.

Keeping in mind the processions and celebrations, the Traffic Police of Hyderabad has also made some diversions near all routes leading to and from the Assembly. The locals were advised to take alternate routes to avoid any delays in reaching their destinations.
