Nature’s creation at its best is the riveting brilliance of the Dudhsagar Waterfalls. Located on the Goa-Karnataka border, this magnificent four tiered waterfall is one of the main tourist attractions in Goa right now. The waterfalls fall from a whopping 1000 feet and the gushing streams create the illusion of flowing milk. Hence it is called Dudhsagar Waterfalls which translates to Sea of Milk.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but not even a thousand pictures can capture the beauty of these falls. It is a breathtaking experience and there are a lot of fun things to do at Dudhsagar Waterfalls. Once you’re done reading, you’ll be on your feet ready to book last minute flights.

Embark On a Journey of All the Things to Do At Dudhsagar Waterfalls

Trek through the Devil’s Canyon

Also known as Devcharacho Kond in Konkani, this picturesque gorge is deep within the jungle and has a treacherous river running through it. Brush off any thoughts of swimming as the Devil’s Canyon keeps up to its name. The slippery rocks, unfathomed depth and strong undercurrents are truly a nightmare for swimmers.

The name comes from the story of a villager and the resident devil of the canyon. The age old story reads that a villager visited the gorge every day and requested the devil for fish as he had guests to entertain. The devil complied but one day decided to follow the villager and caught him eating the fish on his own.

This left the devil furious who cursed the canyon and said no one would be able to catch fish from there ever again. And so it stands, fishermen fear and get super jittery at the thought of fishing at this water body.

Dip in the Pristine Dudhsagar Waterfalls Pool

The rock formations at the base of the falls created a sort of natural pool. The gushing water falling goes from misty white to turquoise blue as it settles in the pool. Unlike the Devil’s Canyon, swimming is not just possible but also safe provided you are careful.

The clear water allows you to see a number of fish swimming their way through. While swimming is allowed, diving is not as the pool base is made of uneven rocky formations. The best time to visit the Dudhsagar Waterfalls is October to June as the weather is pleasant.

However some people want to see the waterfalls at its best which is during monsoon months of July and September. But trekking is a bit trickier during the rainy season and a few routes to the falls are shut due to the increased water levels. If waterfalls intrigue you, check out the 5 highest waterfalls in India you probably didn’t know about.

Understand Farming at the Spice Plantation

This plantation has living accommodation for those looking for a place to stay around the Dudhsagar Waterfalls. There is an educational tour of the traditional and modern sustainable farming processes used at this plantation.

A guided tour from the owner of the plantation will educate you on how regular spices are grown. The visitors get to take a sample of each of these organically grown spices. After the guided tour, you can feast on a home cooked Goan meal prepared with all the spices grown at this farm.

Doesn’t this plantation sound like the perfect family trip? Then stop dilly-dallying around and book cheap flights to Goa to make this vacation a reality.

Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary: Venture through the Wilderness

Located at the foothills of the Western Ghats and covering 240 square km of land is the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. At present, this sanctuary holds the title of the largest wildlife reserve in Goa. This reserve was set up to protect the vast diversity in the Western Ghats.

Originally named Mollem Game Sanctuary, this natural abode is heavily forested with tropical evergreen trees. This sanctuary houses 722 species of flowering plants and over 128 species of green plants. The sanctuary is also the natural habitat for a number of animals like the spotted deer and barking deer.

This sanctuary is the reason tourists from all over the world visit Dudhsagar Waterfalls. To keep you on top of things here is everything you need to know about Goa Airport.

Pay Tribute to Lord Shiva at the Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple

Surrounded by forests, this temple is the oldest in Goa according to the historical records. It states that the Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple was built in the 12th century under the rule of the Yadava King Ramachandra. The architecture of the temple leans towards the Jain style but it is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The combination of faith gives this temple great cultural and religious significance. Tucked away from all the hustle of people, this temple leaves you feeling calm among all the lush vegetation.

Now that you know all the interesting things to do at Dudhsagar Waterfalls, it is time to book those business class flights to India. Indian Eagle is known for giving the best flight deals without compromising on quality.
