Emirates is one of the top airlines in the world. It frequently keeps increasing its fleet, updating its in-flight services, and improvising its amenity kits to enhance passenger experience. Did you know Emirates became the first airline to introduce the world’s first interactive amenity kit back in 2016?

With this innovative kit Emirates set a new benchmark in Economy Class travel. This unique offering leveraged augmented reality (AR) technology to enhance the passenger experience. The stylish amenity kits, made available in six unique designs inspired by Emirates’ global network regions, took in-flight comfort to new heights.

A Journey of Style and Comfort

Each amenity kit design drew inspiration from a specific region within the Emirates’ vast network, spanning Australasia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Far East. The designs not only incorporated the distinct colors and patterns of their respective regions but also showcased the talents of local artists. For instance, the Middle East-themed kit featured exquisite Arabic calligraphy by renowned artist Tagelsir Hassan.

Inside these kits, passengers found an array of essentials tailored to their travel style. A pair of earplugs, an eye mask, a toothbrush, and toothpaste are included, each matching the aesthetics of the kit bag. The pouches themselves were constructed from Neoprene material, known for its water-resistant properties. Designed for reusability, passengers were able to repurpose these pouches to store various items like cosmetics, electronics, or stationery even after the flight.

A World-First Interactive Experience

Emirates has redefined in-flight entertainment with its groundbreaking approach to amenity kits. These kits introduced passengers to augmented reality through a partnership with Blippar, the world’s foremost AR and visual discovery platform. By downloading the Blippar mobile app and scanning the kits, travelers unlocked a world of immersive content on their mobile devices.

This interactive content goes beyond the confines of traditional amenity kits. Emirates and Blippar have collaborated to provide exclusive activities and health tips, elevating the travel experience to new levels of comfort and relaxation. Furthermore, passengers received continuous updates, with fresh content added every six months.

Exploring the World with Blippar

Beyond the world’s first interactive amenity kits, the Blippar app served as a Visual Browser, enabling passengers to explore the world around them. Whether you’re curious about the laptop in your neighbor’s hands, the clothing of a fellow passenger, or even the food being served, Blippar provides additional information on a vast array of objects. It transformed the journey into a captivating learning experience, enriching your understanding of the world as you fly.
