The American Airlines boarding process is changing in a big way as it is adding on another five minutes to the entire boarding time for all flights that is commencing from May 1 2025. The other change added on to this Are aimed at making  the boarding process more efficient and to minimize congestion as well. American Airlines Boarding Process Changes

Starting May 1, 2025, the following changes will take effect::

  • Flights on Airbus A319 and A320 planes will start boarding 35 minutes prior to departure, rather than the current 30 minutes.
  • Flights on Boeing 737, Airbus A321, and all widebody planes will start boarding 40 minutes prior to departure, rather than 35 minutes.
  • This new boarding procedure should decrease jet bridge congestion and enhance the overall travel experience by permitting more efficient group organization for boarding.

Why Is American Airlines Implementing This Change?

The main objective of these changes is to make boarding more streamlined, providing passengers with sufficient time to store their bags and get comfortable in their seats without introducing delays.
