The sun-kissed beaches of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will soon have a vibrant transformation with the introduction of more than 150 beach shacks. This decision comes in response to feedback from tourists who have expressed a desire for livelier evenings by the sea. The addition of 150 shacks at Andaman beaches will definitely enhance the vibes of the already exciting region.

Enjoying the Nighttime Charm

Presently, visitors are constrained from venturing close to the shoreline after dark on most of the island’s beaches. However, this restriction is set to change. Permits will likely be issued for 20 beach shacks on the popular Havelock Island and around 40 on Neil Island. The objective is clear: to infuse the evenings with energy and create a more immersive beach experience for travelers.

The plan entails the establishment of 10 beach shacks in Kalapathar, 15 in Elephanta, and five in Sitapur on Havelock Island. Meanwhile, on Neil Island, 20 shacks will grace the sandy shores of Laxmanpur and Bharatpur beaches. The capital city, Port Blair, won’t be left out either, with 10 beach shacks each slated for Corbyn’s Cove and Badabalu, along with 15 in Raman Bagaicha, 10 in Cutbert Bay, and 15 in Baludera.

Sustainability Meets Aesthetics

This initiative is not just about creating a livelier atmosphere. It also aims to address the issue of unauthorized hawkers and makeshift shacks that have cluttered the popular beaches, detracting from their natural beauty and serenity. It’s a concern for the environment and the preservation of the delicate ecosystems that thrive on these islands.

Empowering the Local Community

Furthermore, the addition of 150 shacks at Andaman beaches holds the promise of economic benefits for the local community, generating revenue and employment opportunities. The beach shacks are expected to become an integral part of the coastal experience, offering visitors a chance to unwind and savor the splendor of the Andaman beaches.
