Goa No Longer Mandates RT-PCR Report for Fully Vaccinated Travelers

Fully vaccinated people, including tourists, can now travel to Goa without a negative RT-PCR report. The recent order from the Bombay High Court in Goa comes as a relief for vaccinated tourists planning a Goa trip.

Earlier in mid-July, the High Court removed the requirement of the RT-PCR report for fully vaccinated people arriving in the state. However, this exemption excluded people visiting Goa for tourism purposes. Tourists were required to produce a negative RT-PCR report even if fully vaccinated.

Apparently, the Goa Government moved the High Court to scrap the RT-PCR requirement for fully vaccinated tourists. Revising its earlier orders, the High Court on Monday extended the RT-PCR report exemption to fully vaccinated tourists as well.

It must be noted that a person would be considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. So, if it has been 14 days or more since your second dose, you could fly to Goa without carrying the RT-PCR report for that much-awaited holiday in the ‘Party Capital of India’.

Advocate Nikhil Pai, who represented the South Goa Advocates Association, is quoted saying, “The High Court has allowed the application by the state government where people who are fully vaccinated, post 14 days of their second dose, can enter Goa without the RT-PCR negative test or a rapid antigen test.”

However, children above two years of age as well as symptomatic kids less than 2 years old are required to present their RT-PCR report when entering Goa.
