For those who wish to experience the thrill of skydiving without actually jumping off a plane from a whopping height (the scariest part, isn’t it?), indoor skydiving is a feasible alternative. No, you don’t have to go somewhere else for this because India’s first-ever skydiving facility is all set for its launch on April 17. Where, you ask? Well, it is coming up in Hyderabad.

GravityZip, the indoor skydiving arena in Hyderabad, will open at Gandipet, at a distance of nearly 30 km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Founders Ram Meda and Sushil Meda planned it three years ago. They say it took them longer to find the right technology and equipment and then there was the pandemic that further slowed down the execution of their idea.

The indoor skydiving experience will be provided inside a 23-ft tall cylindrical tunnel made of high-quality glass. A controlled environment is created inside this wind tunnel for safe flying and floating. As the air would be free from any kind of turbulence, one could safely enjoy the thrill of flying high (defying gravity) and of simulated free fall.

Certified trainers from Europe will run participants through the safety guidelines and supervise their flight. The 40-minute indoor skydiving activity will include gearing up, training and briefing, while the actual flight will be of 2 minutes. The founders promise an adrenaline-rushing adventure in those few minutes nonetheless.

Ram Meda was quoted as saying by Telangana Today, “I wanted to convert the dream of flying into a reality for everyone. Skydiving is extremely expensive, and most people do not have adequate training and experience.”

Indoor skydiving at GravityZip will cost you Rs. 2800 (+GST) on weekdays and Rs.3300 on weekends and holidays. Pre-booking is also made available on their website.

Without having to worry about dealing with aircrafts, parachutes and external weather conditions; you can enjoy this extreme adventure sport in a relatively safe environment with indoor skydiving. Wouldn’t you like to give it a shot? So, when are you visiting Hyderabad?
