In a momentous move, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) recently started passenger services on two vital sections of the Purple Line. The much-anticipated Metro Rail services from Baiyappanahalli to K R Puram and Kengeri to Challaghatta have finally begun, connecting Bengaluru’s East and West.
The newly opened sections, which stretch 2.10 kilometers between Krishnarajapura and Baiyappanahalli and 2.05 kilometers between Kengeri and Challaghatta, have been operating since October 9. The Purple Line, which runs from Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Challaghatta, now has a total length of 43.49 kms and 37 metro stops. The BMRCL operating network has grown from 69.66 km to 73.81 km, with 66 metro stations.
