Revised IPL 2025 Playoff Schedule
With the new plan in place, here are the dates and venue for the playoff matches:
- Qualifier 1 is scheduled for May 29 at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.
- The Eliminator match will take place on May 30 at the same venue.
- Qualifier 2 will be held on June 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
- The grand IPL 2025 Final is set for June 3, also at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
These matches will determine which teams move forward and who ultimately lifts the trophy for the IPL 2025 season.
Why was Ahmedabad chosen for the IPL 2025 finale?
Initially, as KKR were the defending champions, Eden Gardens in Kolkata was the venue for the IPL 2025 final. However, as the 2025 monsoon will be arriving early in eastern India, the BCCI expressed concerns that rain might interfere with the crucial matches of the season.
In order to prevent such disruptions, it was decided to change the venue of all playoff matches. Both the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh and Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad are state-of-the-art venues. Additionally, its geographical position experiences reduced rainfall during this season. All of this makes it a more reliable choice. Many fans have already started booking flights to Ahmedabad to watch the IPL finale and cheer for their favorite players.
Mid-Season Disruptions in IPL 2025
A few days ago, IPL 2025 encountered unforeseen interruptions caused by escalating geopolitical tensions. League stage matches were briefly halted. This resulted in uncertainty for both fans and franchises. Following discussions with government and security authorities, the BCCI reinstated the tournament with revised schedules.
The choice to host playoff games at 2 locations guarantees enhanced security and more efficient logistics for both teams and organizers.
