The state government has taken proactive measures to develop Pilak Tripura as a prominent historical tourism circuit. This will be done along with two other remarkable destinations. It is located in Jolaibari, approximately 100 km from the capital city. Pilak forms part of a chain of significant Hindu-Buddhist sites at the tri-junction of East Bengal (now Bangladesh), Tripura, and Arakkan (Myanmar).

To enhance the overall experience, the state and Pilak tourism department has curated an engaging archaeological tourist circuit. This includes Chhabimura and Udaipur in the Gomati district, along with Pilak in the South Tripura district. Every day, approximately 200 people are drawn to the magnificent historical monument Pilak of Tripura. Udaipur, a temple town nestled in the northeastern state, proudly boasts the renowned Tripureswari Kali temple. This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. This is immortalized in Rabindranath Tagore’s revered novel ‘Rajarshi.’ Another gem in the circuit is Chhabimura, famed for its stunning panels of rock carvings.

Pilak itself showcases an impressive array of stone engravings depicting Hindu Gods, carved in the Buddhist style.
