India is one of the largest tourism industries in the world; hence it attracts both domestic and international tourists. Adventure tourism is also gaining popularity among young travelers and places that are offering adventure sports activities are seeing an influx of visitors.

To cater to the growing demands of the tourism industry, Tamil Nadu has developed Kolli Hills as an adventure tourist spot. It is one of the best trekking places in India and attracts thousands of visitors annually. Now, the state is all set to develop Yelagiri, which is located around 229 km from Chennai into a world-class destination for adrenaline seekers.

A tender worth INR 2.5 crore has also been floated in order to develop the city into a major tourist hotspot in the next six months. This is because Yelagiri doesn’t have enough infrastructure such as private resorts to cater to the needs of the growing tourists.

The authorities are also working on converting 5-acre government-owned land into a camping site that can house at least 50 tourists. In order to develop Yelagiri into an adventure wonderland, an array of outdoor activities such as rope walking, ziplining, rock climbing, boating etc. are being planned as well. Additionally, several routes that can serve as safe tracks for trekking are also being identified.

Things to Do in Yelagiri

Yelagiri will soon become a major adventure sports destination but this awe-inspiring place has a lot more to offer its visitors. If you are planning to visit this gorgeous hill station soon, here are some of the best things to do in Yelagiri to have a memorable trip.
