In order to further boost the old Mysore region’s tourism sector, Karnataka is all set to open a new tiger safari zone at Chamarajanagar. After the success of the Bandipur and Nagarhole reserves, this new tiger safari spread over 18 km will soon delight tourists. The safari will set out from Lokkanahalli in the Male Mahadeshwara Hills (MM Hills) wildlife division’s PG Palya Range.

What will the new tiger safari zone at Chamarajanagar offer?

The safari, which will open in the first week of December, promises to be an immersive experience. The trail passes through thick, breathtaking jungles, providing opportunities to examine the mysterious remains of Stone Age structures. It will also let tourists catch glimpses of a variety of wildlife.

The route neatly lines up with the elephant corridor, increasing the likelihood of exciting interactions with wild elephants. In addition to seeing pachyderms, visitors may expect to see tigers, leopards, sambar and spotted deer, Indian guar, Indian hare, and a wide variety of bird species. Burial grounds and an anti-poaching camp adds a historical dimension to the safari.

A Gateway to Kollegal’s Tourist Circuit

Designed to begin operations with a single vehicle over the course of a two-month research phase, the safari helps create a Kollegal tourism circuit. It is carefully planned to let tourists explore the area in a single day. The route provides the safari point in close proximity to well-known sites like the Gundal Dam, Bharachukki Falls, and the Dhondenling Tibetan camp.
