A massive global success, Squid Game will soon return to Netflix for the highly-anticipated second season. The OTT giant Netflix confirmed Squid Game Season 2 via their official Twitter page a couple of days ago and also dropped a brief teaser video, sending fans across the world into a frenzy. It featured the gigantic animatronic doll from Squid Game Season 1, with the number 2 highlighted in its glowing eye.
Netflix posted a note from Squid Game’s writer, director, producer, and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk on its Twitter page, in which he thanked millions of fans worldwide for loving the series so much and setting new records on its name. He noted, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever.”

Squid Game is a South Korean survival drama series that revolves around a group of financially broke individuals who resort to contesting in a series of children’s games in hope of bagging attractive prize money. While a win puts an end to their financial hardships, the risks involved in these deadly games cost them their own lives.

What will be the storyline of Squid Game Season 2? Who is in the Cast?
Mr. Hwang Dong-hyuk, in his note, has confirmed the return of some familiar faces to the second season, including one of the audience’s favorite characters Seong Gi-Hun from the Squid Game Season 1. The Front Man will also be a part of the Squid Game Season 2 cast, with Lee Byung-hun reprising his role as Hwang In-ho. Hwang Dong-hyuk also teased fans with some spoilers and revelations that “the man in the suit with ddakji might be back” and that Young-hee’s boyfriend Cheoul-su might make an entry in the second season.
During an interview with the Korean network KBS in December last year, Mr. Hwang Dong-hyuk hinted at the plotline of Squid Game Season 2 and revealed that the story would continue with Seong Gi-Hun taking the center stage post the death of Squid Game’s creator.
“The focus will be the story of Seong Gi Hun (played by lead actor Lee Jung) unraveling (the mysteries of the organization behind the game). The overarching plotline of Season 2 will be the story of the people that Gi Hun meets and the people he chases after,” Mr. Hwang Dong-hyuk was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
