Emirates is celebrating a successful first year of its premium economy class offering. The response from its customers has been overwhelmingly positive. Since its official sale, over 160,000 passengers have experienced the luxury of flying in the Emirates premium economy cabin, and this number continues to grow steadily.

Emirates Aircraft Retrofit Program

With 20 of the airline’s Airbus A380s now equipped with premium economy seats, Emirates is well on its way to completing its ambitious multi-billion dollar aircraft retrofit program. The retrofitting process for 14 aircraft was done in-house at the Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai, a testament to the airline’s dedication to providing an exceptional travel experience.

The popularity of the premium economy has far exceeded the airline’s expectations. Bookings for the cabin have shown continuous month-on-month growth, indicating strong demand from travelers seeking an elevated and more comfortable journey without the premium price tag.

Solo Travelers Opting for Emirates Premium Economy

One of the key demographic groups that have embraced the premium economy option are solo travelers, comprising nearly 50% of the passengers. The other half includes couples and families looking for a more spacious and luxurious travel experience. A significant portion of premium economy customers are also loyal Emirates Skywards members and frequent fliers of the airline, appreciating the added benefits and comfort the cabin provides.

Luxurious and Affordable In-Flight Experience

Emirates is known for its exceptional in-flight dining, and premium economy passengers are no exception to this luxurious experience. The carefully curated menus feature regionally inspired dishes, generously portioned and paired with indulgent desserts. To keep the culinary offerings fresh and diverse, the menus are updated monthly, ensuring passengers enjoy a unique dining experience on every flight.

The premium economy experience is not complete without a selection of beverages, and Emirates goes above and beyond to provide a wide range of options. The airline’s beverage collection includes certain global exclusives, such as Chandon Vintage Brut 2016, making it a treat for connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts on board.

What sets Emirates apart in the competitive Middle Eastern aviation market is its pioneering approach to offering a premium economy product. While other luxury-defining carriers like Etihad and Qatar Airways focus on business and first-class experiences, Emirates recognized the demand for a product that bridges the gap between economy and business class. This strategic move has given Emirates a unique selling point, allowing the airline to attract a diverse range of customers, especially on long-haul routes like the USA to India.

With the success of its premium economy product and growing demand from travelers, Emirates continues to expand its offerings. By the end of 2023, passengers can look forward to flying in premium economy on 13 different destinations, providing more opportunities to enjoy an elevated travel experience with Emirates.
